PUBLIC NOTICE
Combined Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) & Intent to Request Release of Funds
The County of Jefferson has determined that the proposed Brockway Borough Water System Improvements project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement is not required.
On or about August 25, 2026, the County will request the release of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for water system improvements along High Street and 5th Avenue in Brockway Borough, including the replacement of aging water mains and related service connections.
The Environmental Review Record is available for public inspection at the Jefferson County Department of Development, Jefferson Place, 155 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Brookville, PA 15825, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

D.E.P. mandated upgrades that needed to be made to the system. These upgrades included dam and spillway repairs, 2 additional water tanks, and interconnection between the 2 water systems (Rattlesnake and Whetstone), repairs to the chlorinator building, a new water well and additional alert alarms.
2 grants were received for this project for a total of $2.9 million.
